When You're Scared, Do it Anyway

It’s easy to take action when the path is clear, the stakes are low, and everything feels comfortable. But what about when it’s not?

When uncertainty is high.

When the next step feels overwhelming.

When the world feels divided, and progress seems impossible.

That’s when action matters most.

Growth, change, and leadership aren’t about waiting for the “right” moment. They’re about stepping forward even when it’s hard.

So, if you're feeling stuck, here are three ways for you to take action, even when fear creeps in:

1️ Focus on the very next step. You don’t have to have the whole plan figured out. Just take the next best action. Small steps compound into big moves.

2️ Reframe fear as a speed bump, not a stop sign. Fear often means you’re on the edge of something important. Instead of avoiding it, recognize it as a sign of growth.

3️ Anchor yourself in purpose. When the world feels chaotic, reconnect with why you’re doing what you’re doing. Clarity of purpose helps cut through noise and self-doubt.

And for leaders—your team is watching how you navigate challenges. They take their cues from you. Here’s how you can help them move forward in difficult times:

Acknowledge the reality, but don’t feed the fear. People need honesty, but they also need hope. Balance transparency with optimism. Don’t sugar coat it, but do acknowledge it!

Make decisions, even if they’re imperfect. Uncertainty can create paralysis. Progress is made by making thoughtful decisions—not waiting for perfection. My mantra: Progress over perfection!

Create even the small wins. Big challenges feel less daunting when people see progress. Don’t wait for the entire world to change in order to celebrate. Honor each win, regardless of how big or small.

At the end of the day, courage isn’t about not feeling fear—it’s about moving forward despite it.

So, if you’re scared, do it anyway.

That’s where growth lives.
